Stewart F Lane is a five-time Tony Award-winning producer for War Horse, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Will Rogers Follies and La Cage aux Folles, as well as an eight-time nominee for the Broadway productions of The Merchant of Venice starring Al Pacino, Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, Sunday in the Park with George (revival), Fiddler on the Roof (revival) starring Alfred Molina, Gypsy (revival) starring Bernadette Peters, 1776 (revival), The Goodbye Girl starring Martin Short, and Woman of the Year starring Lauren Bacall. Other productions include Cyrano de Bergerac starring Kevin Kline, Legally Blonde, Wait Until Dark starring Quentin Tarantino and Marisa Tomei, Enron and many more. He received four Drama Desk, a Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama-League Awards. Current Broadway: War Horse, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Gore Vidal’s The Best Man and A Streetcar Named Desire. He is co-owner/operator of the Palace Theatre on Broadway. In London, Stewart F Lane produced Olivier-nominated productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Ragtime, plus the play Lobby Hero. Published plays include In the Wings and If It Was Easy (nominated for Best New Play by the American Theatre Critics Association). He wrote and directed A Moment in Time, with music and lyrics by John Denver. He also wrote Jews on Broadway (McFarland Publishing) and Let’s Put on a Show: How to Produce for the Theater ( Stewart F Lane was honoured with the distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater, Boston University College of Fine Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. He currently sits on the board of the Actor’s Fund of America and the American Theatre Wing.
